Weight

This has been an eventful few days.... We made it to Sunday school at church and saw a lot people. :) Nicole had a breakdown one night thinking her milk had dried up concerning ALL of us. Her milk has been fine since then. Alexys is doing well. We took her to the doctor because she wasn't acting totally normal and she checked out fine. She now weighs 6lb 8 1/2 ounces. She gained 8 1/2 ounces in 6 days. She is growing like a weed i guess. :) She seems pretty lively now so we may be in for a long night..... We'll see. :) She has been sleeping FINALLY in her bassinet today. Praise GOD!!! :) We are still trying to get over our stinking colds..... My mom is coming tomorrow to help out this week since i'm going back to work. Pretty excited to have grandma coming to town since she hasn't gotten to hold/meet her yet. Alexys seems pretty excited too!

First Trip

We took Alexys out today for her first trip.  We went to Nicoles work and to Wally World. :) She was an angel and when we got home we left her in the car carrier and got a 1 hour NAP til she woke up!!!  Nicoles hormones have kicked in and now she feels overwhelmed........ Not sure what i can do about that one.......  We had some friends bring us supper tonight and it was very good and i'm HURTING now due the cookie monster coming out in me. :)  Today was another big day in that Alexys umbilical cord came off already. :)  I was thinking of putting it in a scrapbook but i'm not sure if it's something that should go in it?? MOM???? Nicole still has part of a cold and my allergies have been up and down today so still lift us up.  Thanks!!!  P.S. Jen i put in the pic of Tom to make you jeolous!!!!

Today

We went today for Alexys checkup. She now weighs 6lbs even. :) She has gained half a pound in like 4 days. Nicole has already lost a ton of weight and in a week she could be thinner than when she started. :) Nicole has currently gotten a COLD and she HATES life currently..... My allergies are killing me.... So the only one happy right now is Alexys. We thought she had something but the doc said she was fine. Alexys still likes to party at night...... Someday we hope to get her on our schedule and not hers......

Update: Home at Last

Hey Everyone
Well it has been a long and exhausting couple of days and it was very labor intensive (lol) and stressful and very emotional but very worth every second. We are finally home. It is amazing how much pain you can go thru and yet when you hold your little one in your arms the pain and the stress and even the tiredness just vanishes. We got to go home Saturday around 12:30 pm and it was kind of scary being on our own but it was good to be home. She has done wonderfully and all our prayers were answered very quickly. She is healthy and has her daddy's appetite. She kept me up all night last night but when you hold her it doesn't seem to matter. She is soooo sweet and beautiful and she is not very fussy at all. She is such a good baby we are starting to think we should stop at one because the next one we probably won't be so lucky. :-)
We truly feel blessed. It was a long road to get us here but we couldn't be happier. Dony is truly, madly in love with her and he is so sweet with her. I knew he would be wrapped and he truly is.
We thank you all for your prayers and we know that is what got us thru and got us home. I am going to go try to get a little nap in before the fun begins again tonight.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Nicole and Alexys

Home at LAST!!!!!!!

All of US are HOME at LAST!!!!! Now the fun begins..... We have some anxiety since we have no nurses to lean towards.... We have to get a couple outfits for her since she is so SMALL. :) Good times, good times! Thanks for your prayers!

Fingers Crossed

Alexys is doing GREAT and hopefully Nicoles bladder will cooperate Saturday morning so i can take them both home. :) They put in a catheter back in to get out her fluids and they are removing it Saturday morning and then they will check to see if she is getting rid of all her fluids. If not then they both may have to stay another day...... Thanks for all your prayers.

Today

Alexys had some hurtles to cross today. I am proud and thankful to say she has passed ALL of them for today. She is off the oxygen machine and off the IV they had her on. They are still monitoring her but she is eating really good and her color is good. It looks like she will be coming home Saturday morning most likely. I feel like I gave birth to her.... I have NEVER been so EMOTIONAL in my LIFE. I don't cry very often at all and i have cried more in the last day or so than probably my whole life. I couldn't even talk about her this morning due to be overwhelmed... Thanks for all your prayers and keep them coming. :) We are ROOKIES especially me(Dony 2 diaper changes on record).

Prayer Request

Alexys had a rough night last night and turned BLUE around midnight. They think she has an infection and willl be monitoring her for the next 2-3 days. We need prayer for 1. Nicole is an emotiional wreck, we can only see our baby at the nursery now. We can't have her in our room anymore due to this. She is stressed out and it concerns me but i know GOD is in control and i am trusting him, he has a plan for Alexys. Thanks for all your support. D and N.

New Arrival

This has been the longest week of our lives. Saturday night we had to go get drugs for Nicole at 3:00am so we didn't sleep much and Sunday night we thought her water broke which was her mucus plug and didn't get to bed til after 4a.m. Monday night we both tossed and turned and Tuesday night was go TIME.
Alexys Brielle Smith was born at 10:55a.m. weighing 5lb 14oz and 19 3/4 inches long.

First off i would like to thank all of my friends that tried to prepare me for what was about to happen. Unfortunately, no matter what they say nothing compares to the real thing and being there with all that's entailed. It was very emotional for one seeing my wife in such stress and PAIN it was almost unbearable to watch..... I'm tearing up as I type this. She got an epidural at like 2 cm and was only at 4cm at 4:30a.m. The nurse checked her at 6a.m. and said she was COMPLETE. It caused a mad scramble among friends thinking we were going to have a birth in the next hour. The doctor didn't arrive til about 7:30. After 3 1/2 hours of pushing Alexys was finally born. I always heard there was a ton of people in there at birth but we only had 1 nurse for 95% of it..... When they phoned delivery we had a party then. About 8 nurses showed up from various departments. 3 or 4 more pushes and she was finally out. I got to cut the umbilical cord. I forgot about the afterbirth.... That was an interesting site in itself.... I am being very selective of calls we answer because i'm trying to conserve energy for Nicole and myself. Once we get aclimated we will welcome everybody who wants to meet our new addition. I have already assisted on my first diaper that was full of black stuff..... We should get released Friday morning so that should be fun. This will definitely be the BEST Father's Day EVER!!! I will NEVER be the same after today. It's hard to describe it but it's almost like when i decided to follow Christ and have never been the same since. It is definitely an emotional roller coaster but it's a GOOD thing. Thanks for all your prayers! The Smiths.
